Dear Cumberland soccer players,
Cumberland is currently recruiting coaches to help out with the 2018 CUSC Grassroots Program for U4-U8 players. In past years, the program has run well, but we are looking to make it even stronger.
If you are interested in coaching with us this summer, please consider the following eligibility criteria:
- 13 - 20 years of age
- Minimum 2 years coaching experience or related experience working with young children
- Minimum 3 years competitive playing experience and demonstrated soccer ability.
- Available Friday evenings from 6 - 8 PM
There will also be an additional opportunity to coach the Grassroots on Wednesday evenings and also the U4 program on Friday evenings (starting before the U5-7 program). It is important that you express your interest on the application form for these additional nights/programs.
Enthusiasm and commitment are key for this coaching job! The kids are a lot of fun and the reason why this program ran so well last year is because all coaches showed great enthusiasm and positive energy each session.
Please note that priority will be given toward experienced coaches and those who demonstrate the required abiliy, enthusiasm and energy. For 2018, we have introduced a new training system for coaches comprised of different levels ability, which are associated with increased responsibilities and associated compensation, ie:
“Grassroots coach level 1”
“Grassroots coach level 2”
“Grassroots coach level 3”
The details of this new program will be discussed at an orientation meeting. Essentially, the system will give a chance for young coaches to develop through the ranks on a step by step basis. As they move up and gain experience and ability, more opportunities will be afforded to them.
If you are interested in being considered for coaching for 2018, please complete the following application: Application Form
