We are well into the process of the merge of Cumberland United-Unis Soccer Club and FC Capital United and we have even more exciting news for our members.
Please read below for an excerpt from an email sent to members re: tonights Special General Meeting (SGM). This meeting will be held at 7pm at Gisele-Lalonde High School Cafeteria. Members (including our YDP players/parents and senior teams) are invited to attend to learn more about this exciting development.
“[There is an] agreement by both CUSC and Capital United to merge organizations as soon as possible. Both organizations agreed that a new name would be created for the newly merged club. The club naming process CUSC had started was put on hold because Capital United’s input had not been included.
[Another] important event was a call from Toronto FC interested in partnering with us. We have been in negotiations since July and we now believe we have the makings of a great partnership agreement. We will present the key elements of the partnership and Anthony Capotosto, Director of the TFC Academy will be in attendance to talk about the partnership and what Toronto FC can bring to our club.
Please join us at the SGM and bring your kids. This promises to be a landmark event for our club and you need to be there! All members in good standing are welcome to the meeting as there will be a motion put forward to adopt a new name for the club that represents our merged clubs and the proposed partnership.
Coffee and juice will be served.”
